The Minister for Sports, Sh. Satish Sharma, extended his support to visually impaired cricketers during the selection trials conducted by the Cricket Association for the Blind Jammu and Kashmir (CABJK). The trials, held at Green Field Ground, Jammu, on November 30 and December 1, aimed to select the top 14 players who will represent J&K in the prestigious Nagesh Trophy.
Recognizing the determination of these athletes, the Minister assured them of all possible assistance to help them shine at the national level. “These cricketers are real heroes who turn their disability into strength. Supporting them in their journey is our responsibility,” he stated.
This year marks Jammu and Kashmir’s seventh consecutive participation in the Nagesh Trophy, an annual national tournament for visually impaired cricketers. The Group-D matches will take place in Hyderabad from December 23 to 27.
Around 50 players showcased their skills during the trials, competing for a spot in the team. Ajay Kumar, General Secretary of CABJK, expressed pride in the team’s journey, highlighting their consistent performance since 2018. “Our team has shown remarkable dedication, reflecting the region’s commitment to inclusive sports,” he said.
With unwavering support from the administration and the community, J&K’s visually impaired cricketers continue to break barriers and inspire many with their perseverance.
