The Cricket Association for the Blind Jammu and Kashmir (CABJK) has finalized its 14-member squad for the upcoming Nagesh Trophy National Championship, following a rigorous two-day selection process at Green Field Ground, Jammu. The trials saw the participation of 50 visually impaired cricketers, showcasing their talent and determination.
Jammu and Kashmir has been placed in Group-D for the prestigious tournament, which is set to take place in Hyderabad from December 23 to 27, 2024. Speaking about the team’s journey, CABJK General Secretary Ajay Kumar said, “Since 2018, our team has consistently demonstrated dedication and excellence in national tournaments. Their hard work reflects our region’s commitment to promoting inclusive sports. We look forward to another strong performance this year.”
Earlier in the day, Minister for Sports, Sh. Satish Sharma visited the trials venue, interacting with the players and acknowledging their efforts. He also received a memorandum from the blind cricketers’ association outlining their key demands.
“We are grateful to the Minister for his personal visit and assurance of support,” Ajay Kumar added, expressing hope for continued backing to further develop blind cricket in Jammu and Kashmir.
With the team now set, preparations will continue in a coaching camp ahead of the championship, as J&K aims for a strong showing in the Nagesh Trophy 2024.
